Montgomery

for Ward 6

Welcome

Why are you running for Council?

On January 1, 2028 the Municipality of Chatham-Kent will be celebrating 30 years of Amalgamation. However, I do not believe most would consider it a celebration. We certainly have had strong opposition over the years. However, these past few years something has changed and not for the better. The spiritual temperature within our Municipality has changed; people have become very critical of the governance of the Municipality. Anger, hostility, and lack of trust is very evident. Division has become the rule of the day, not just within our communities wanting to de-amalgamate but also within our council meetings there is strong evidence of division.

My hope is for restoration, to build unity and trust across our Municipality, with servant leaders who put the interests of our citizens first. That we would cohesively work together to create a brighter future.

Let's declare 2028 "A Year to Remember" "30 Years of Amalgamation" with various community celebrations throughout the year.

What are some important issues you plan to address if elected?

A Critical Aspect of Municipal Governance, is setting the next four-year Vision 2028-2031 with its strategic plans and goals. I can assist council to see the big picture, the factors that play a crucial role in the direction we should be taking and include all stakeholders in the process.

Budgets are my forte, and I love a challenge. Our budget for the Municipality is based on the strategic plans to implement the vision. This is why the vision is critical; it sets the direction and course for the future.

The current budget process of deliberations needs serious reform.  Accountability measures, departmental budget reviews along with council’s hands on approach on a continual basis will benefit the overall performance. In the process finding ways to reduce waste, along with restructuring to accomplish lower budgets with lower to net zero tax increases. My experience with budgets can certainly be of benefit to orchestrate this.

What skills, experience and talents will you bring to council that will benefit residents of Chatham-Kent?

I am an administrator who has many years of experience in various managerial positions. A servant leader, leading teams and committees to collaborate, everyone utilizing their skills and expertise to reach desired outcomes.
